During this project the support body of a silo was modeled and Analysed for stress/ deflection distributions and buckling analysis under static load. To achieve this, SolidWorks Simulation Linear Buckling Analysis was employed.
The base frame CAD model is presented in figure (1).

The modal displacement amplitude plot for the first buckling mode is presented in figure (2). This shape is an estimate of the deformation at the start of the buckling failure. To check the buckling strength of the structure, the buckling factor of safety (BFS) value should be reviewed. The BSF values for the first two modes are depicted in figure (3).
For BFS values between -1 to 0; there is no chance of buckling. In this range, buckling happens if the load direction reveres which is not applicable in this case.
